VoiceDesigner is a real-time VST Plug-In for changing the pitch of a voice while maintaining its natural character. Because VoiceDesigner is sensitive to the nature of the human voice, it can even manipulate the character of the voice while changing its pitch.
When a person sings a series of notes at differing pitches, many people are aware that the vocal cords in the throat are vibrating at corresponding fre- quencies. But what is important is what is staying the same; the natural reso- nances of the body and head remain relatively static, and color and build the tone of the voice.
Early attempts to digitally shift the pitch of instruments have been marked by their failure to modify the human voice in a way that created a believable re- sult. Even then the processing is often off-line.VoiceDesigner shifts the human voice in real time and does so without creating the often quoted �singing ro- dent� effect.
VoiceDesigner has independent controls for the pitch shift and character pro- file. These can be unlinked for natural pitch shifting or used interactively to create a range of effects such as simulating other singing voices,and even im- printing the character of the male voice onto a female vocalist,and other sim- ilar effects.
