现在的专辑封面是十字架和五个成员的骷髅头像。
枪花乐队第一张专辑，发行在 1987 年，当时在格芬旗下。专辑发行以前其实已经有很多其他歌曲的 Demo（但是在后来的专辑才陆续录入）。本专只打算录制一首 Ballad，所以 November Rain 就没有录入了。
专辑录制过程有不少人有过不同意见，包括 Kiss 的吉他手建议更换 Steven 的鼓音轨，坚持无效后就不鸟他们了。后来他们选了一个录制过 Triumph 乐队的人当制作人。
然后我竟然查到这个年代的音轨录制竟然是数个星期排练...然后录基本音轨（应该就是除了主音吉他和主唱）...然后选好的部分用刀片裁剪和拼接（够原始的…）…然后再录制人声和主音吉他…Slash 应该是不断剪切和建构自己的 Solo 部分的，而 Axl 很麻烦就是一定要完成一次过的人声部分（不喜欢拼接，典型完美主义…这时候他已经坚持要独自录音远离其他成员了…），而鼓手 6 天就能录完自己的部分。不过这张专辑很多歌曲分部音轨都是他们个人完成的，有些歌曲是枪花的前身乐队的（所以这个算得上是一个精华集）。很多歌都是他们亲身经历，比如 "Welcome to the Jungle"，还有 "Mr. Brownstone” 是关于海洛因的。
花絮：
这专辑没有 AB 面之分，而是“G”“N”面之分。1-6 首是 G Side，讲述痛苦的生活和毒品；其他是 R Side，关于性与爱。Alx 说封面灵感来源是 Space Shuttle Challenger 挑战者号航天飞机……
专辑的评价和成就：
刚发布时候名次很低，182 位。但是一年后发布单曲 MV 以后才开始上榜。很多评论家说专辑巨大成功来源于 80 年代那种“毒品性爱和摇滚”的禁忌培养出来的观众口味（原文 Music critics at the time complained that the album's massive success with consumers was fostered by the taboo of "sex, drugs and rock & roll" during the 1980s, when much of the cultural atmosphere in the United States became informed by the Reagan-Bush Administration, the AIDS crisis, and the popularity of MTV.）但是也有评论反驳说这就是 Aerosmith AC/DC 等几个团的音乐元素低劣模仿。当然也有人说他们适应了摇滚乐听众多样选择，因为他们不同于当时流行的大多数风格，而且 Rose 的聲音的確和當時的聲音有很大區分度，雖然那歌詞不堪入目（ "He doesn't love Night Train, he loves alcoholism. And once that sweet child o' his proves her devotion by sucking his cock for the portacam, the evil slut is ready for 'See me hit you you fall down.'"）
一些评论还说，它和當時的 Hair Metal 不同它飽含速度和『Dirt』，而且很吸引人的享乐主义和朋克内核，使得它不得不被列为必听专辑。它是“性 + 毒品 + 摇滚”的暴力庆典。
