又找到一个老帖子,看来至少MOTU 2.0 driver肯定是不行了:
I just bought an 896 and am having a similar problem to yours on my Win XP machine... Sonar recognizes all the inputs and outputs 1-8, BUT other applications do not.
I believe your problem is with the MOTU 2.0 driver. Apparently, not all windows applications recognize MOTU as a multi-channel input/output device...
To be sure this is your problem, go to Control Panel>>Sounds and Audio Devices. On the "Volume" Tab, if you see "No Audio Device" at the top of the window, it's the 2.0 driver. On the "Audio" tab you will only see "MOTU Analog" listed as the default playback and recording device, not channels 1-8. So, "MOTU analog" is all that CoolEdit is recognizing for input/output. (On the "hardware" tab, you should have MOTU listed twice in the devices window if it is turned on). Apparently many windows applications read this information to get input/output info.
I'm not using CEP, but I wanted to play back a multichannel cd and dvd we had mastered. Windows Media Player, ATI dvd player, RealOne, and PowerDVD don't recognize any outputs other than "MOTU Analog"! But it is installed correctly!
I spent lots of time with MOTU tech support and they told me that the MOTU 2.0 driver doesn't support multichannel input or playback in these applications (I guess you can add CEP to the list?!). So for these programs, MOTU will only play back a stereo mix on 1/2 and main out. It's only recognized as 'MOTU Analog.'
The tech support isn't sure if or when they will update the driver for multichannel support so that ALL windows applications recognize all 8 outputs.
I'm disappointed, as you probably are too. Please email
suggestions@motu.com and tell them your problem and ask them to add this multichannel capability to the next driver release (that's what I'm doing at tech support's suggestion).
For the crackles and pops, try adjusting the buffer. I've found that recording at 44.1 with the samples per buffer at 256, for example, got rid of the crackles.
